I recently got a Playstation 3 and it was a great platform. However, if you want to watch any movies, you are limited to a certain number of formats. So how do you bypass this restriction? Well, if you have a networked computer nearby, just install PS3 Media Server onto your computer and link your movies.
I'm running it currently using my 802.11g connection, so I find it difficult to watch any 1080p movies. So, I reconnect my PS3 to the Ethernet cable and 1080p movies run just fine.
Initially I have problems running any 720p movies, but a quick visit to their FAQ solved my problems by reducing the bit-rate process.
